Both of the bridal couple are from this vicinity. The young couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Ole Olson also of this vicinity, the latter being a sister of the bride.

The bride wore a ankle lenght dress of bright blue flat crepe with dark accessories and she carried a bouquet of rose red carnations. The bridesmaid's dress was also of flat crepe of a deep purple shade with dark accessories.

Mr. and Mrs. Wright will reside on the George Wright farm at Black Hammer which was formerly the bridegrooms father's farm.

Black Hammer Valley - Mar 19, 1896 - Frank Ramsdell had moved onto the Buell farm formerly occupied by George Wright. Mr. Wright will build an addition to his house and then will move to the west side of the town on the county line.

January 10, 1935 - George Wright buried January 4, 1935 - Mr. George Wright was born February 18, 1863 in Black Hammer Township. He was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Wright, who were born in Ireland and came to America at an early age, settling in Houston County in 1858. Mr. Wright was married in August, 1888 to Miss Jane Lee, daughter of Knute Lee of Black Hammer Township. This union was blessed with three children: Frances, (Mrs. John Peterson) who died about three years ago; Arthur who died at Harlem, MT in 1932 and Henry who is residing on the old homestead. Mrs Wright passed away in 1932. Four grandchildren also survive, namely: George and Jay Kallis; Gilman and Amey Wright.
Mr. Wright was an active farmer and thresher in this community almost entirely made up of people of another nationality, his character won him the recognition which he has enjoyed.
Funeral services were held on Friday from the residence at 9:30 a.m. and at 11 o'clock at the Preble Catholic Church were he was laid to rest. Father Wilson of Canton officiated.

Knut and his wife Barbra Marie and Barbra's daughter Marta Marie by her marriage to Ole Larsen Vinjum and Knut & Barbra's children Odd, Ole and Ingeborg emigrated to America in 1854.

He served in the Civil War as a Private in Company D, 3rd Minnesota Infantry. Mustered in June 17, 1864 and mustered out 3rd July 1865. Served 1 yr. 16 days. (see page 184 - Minnesota in Indian & Civil War.)

In the 1860 census, Elling Olsen Winjum was living with his step-father Knute Amundsen Lee and his mother, Barbra Marie. He maybe went by Lee at that time.

Per: G. E. Elling J. Winjum's father was Jens Ellingsen Winjum (mararied to Anna Olsdtr. Otterness) and he was a brother to Barbro Marie Ellingsdtr. Winjum Lee, who was Elling Olsen Winjum's mother. Their farms in the pioneer days adjoined each other and to the south of them was their brother, Lars E. Winjum, on the homestead that later became the Mons Fladager farm now owned by Wayne and Marion Bunge. Lars E. Winjum was married to the oldest daughter ofEllend and Ase Ytre Lee Skaim #106a (on what was later the Frank and Lois Hahn farm) They arae listed in the 1860-1875 censuses with a daughter Ase. Sometime before 1896, they have gone elsewhere, probably, Dakota Territory, as Mathilda Glasrud Lee, mentions some Winjum relatives in the Dakotas persuading Knut Lee to come out there to homestead which they did--and which Mathilda packed everybody up and moved back to Spring Grove from the Dakota homestead.This Lars Winjum would have been Knut Lee's great-uncle and a fairly reliable person for Knut to trust with his possessions and family to bring to Dakota Territory. The relationship to Knut, as any thing dealing with the Winjums,was completely ignored by Mathilda Glasrud Lee in her conveyance of this to her children.

Spring Grove Herald - April 12, 1906 - The remains of Mrs. Barbo K. Lee, one of the oldest pioneer ladies of Black Hammer, was laid to rest at the Black Hammer cemetery, Saturday, April 7, 1906. She was 82 years of age and had come to America with her husband as early as 1853, when she and her husband located in Black Hammer Township where she resided till her death with occured April 5th, 1906.
Four daughters and 5 sons survive to mourn the loss of a dear mother.

Kari and her son Lars Dyrdal emigrated to America in 1854 after her husband Elling died.

Kari was a sister to my (Georgia's) great, great, great-grandmother, Gjøre Dyrdal. In the Black Hammer death records, she is listed as 78 years old when she died in 1872 which would give her birthdate as 1794 instead of 1790.
