{geni:about_me} Søren Wilhelm Thorne (born May 29, 1804 Drammen, died 17 April 1878 in Kongsberg, Norway) was a Norwegian priest and politician. He finished school at Drammen Latin School in 1823, and was cand. theol. from the University of Christiania from 1829. For two years he was part-time teacher at Drammen Latin School before he became parish priest in Håland parish in 1831. He was the vicar of Leikanger 1840-1848 and 1848-1857 in Kongsberg. Thorne was a member of Kongsberg City Council and the Settlement Commissioner. He was elected Member of Parliament from Kongsberg 1854-1861. He was the brother of the timber merchant Johan Fredrik Thorne and industrialist Christian August Thorne and uncle to John Thorne.
