Anders Brynhildsen was his origin name. http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20050826040741.jpg Anders set sail for America in May of 1849 at the age of 23 years. He first located at Janesville, WI. In 1853 he purchased land at Locust Prairie, Iowa. February 9, 1887 - Knud Gilbertson and Anders B. Foss of Spring Grove called while here on business one day last week. Caledonia Journal. February 28, 1895- T. I. Doely purchased the Ballard House from A. B. Foss and son. He has made Spring Grove his home since 1887. A. B. Foss, Houston County's oldest resident, relinquished his claim as such on Friday morning at 12:10 when he slept peacefully away to the Great Beyond at the age of 95 years, 4 months and 15 days. The venerable Mr. Foss had been in the best of health up to the day before his death, when it was noticed that he was not as well as usual. During the evening he became worse and the doctor was called. At 11 o'clock he dropped into a deep sleep from which he never awakened, death coming quietly and without pain. Funeral services will be held at the resident on Thursday Sept. 15th at one o'clock and immediately after from the church. Witnesses for their wedding were: Jens Olsen & Anders Solberg.
