    • 1951- Mrs. N. H. Nelson, Mabel, Deat at 95 - Mabel's oldest resident, Mrs Nels H. Nelson died Sunday afternoon at 95. She died at the Spring Grove Hospital wheere she had been a patient for three days. On Thursday evening she suffered a stroke at her home. Funeral services were held at the Mabel First Lutheran Church, Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. P. C. ...ler officiated. Interment was in the Decorah Lutheran Cemetery. A charter member of the AmericanLegion Auxiliary, Joseph B. Lund post, she was in good health until Thursday. The former Barbara Marie Foss, she was born Jun 10, 1856 near Locust, Iowa. February 2, 1878 she was married. Following their marriage they lived ona farm for two years, after which they moved to Decorah where Mr. Nelson was Clerk of Court in Winneshiek County. In 1908 they moved to Mabel, where Mr. Nelson became cashier in the First State Bank. Later he served as president of the firm.
      Survivors are five sons: Dr. H. Nelson of Crookston, MN; Augustus, Spokane, WA; George, Sumner, WA; James, Minneapolis, MN; and Norman, St. Paul, MN. Two daughters: Mrs. Lyman (Mabel) Fries, Lime Springs, IA; Mrs. Joseph (Amy)Ensrud, Alexandria, MN. Seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers: Peter and Edward Foss, Spring Grove and Lee Foss, Chatsworth, CA; and three sisters: Mrs. T. L. Doely, Chatsworth CA and Mrs. Julia Walhusand Mrs. Martha Kroshus, Spring Grove, MN. Two sons Arthur and William died in infancy. Her husband died September 27, 1940

      1937 she lived at Mabel, MN
